Your love
And we can't wait to hear all about it. We're excited to be friends, hang out, and talk all about how we're going to turn your love story into an epic, totally original wedding celebration. Here are the beliefs we hold dear that help facilitate your perfect day.
Weddings can look like whatever you want them to look like
The only opinion that matters when it comes to how you celebrate your wedding is yours.
Your wedding experience comes first & everything else, including photos and video, comes after that
The photos and videos from your wedding should look like you, match your vibe, and remind you of exactly how you felt on your wedding day
Love is love & all are welcome here
we know what it's like to plan a unique wedding
Because that's what we did!
we planned our wedding
in three months
And it was perfect
We had the perfect wedding for us. Yes, our moms disagreed with some of our decisions. Yes, some guests weren't able to attend. But it was exactly what we wanted and we wouldn't change a thing.
We never announced our engagement. Kayla didn't want to see or wear the ring we custom designed together until the wedding ceremony.
Our mission is simple
we want you to be as obsessed with your wedding
As we are with ours
we're going to help you do that!
Here's How
01.
We're going to get to know you. Not just because we love new friends, but because we believe vendors do their best work when they have a personal relationship with the couples they serve.
02.
During the entire process, we listen and ask lots of questions. We're constantly listening for the things you can't live without, and the things (and people) that stress you out.
03.
We open your eyes to the infinite possibilities of weddings by sharing some of the really neat and unconventional things we've seen in our decade in the industry.
04.
We help you make the best decisions for you by talking through how different choices affect your wedding day.
05.
It's not about what we want, but about what you want. We don't have preferences. The only thing we care about is you having the absolute time of your life.
06.
We'll teach you how to talk to your important people about the wedding you want to have, and give you tips on diffusing potentially stressful situations.
we're the lang gang!
get to know us.
We're only kinda lame. Promise.

From Barbie Camera to Wedding Photographer
One of my earliest memories involves obsessing over a pink film Barbie camera that my mom got me when I was 6. Fast forward 2 decades and many, many cheap point-and-shoots later, and now I’m living my dream.
I’ve been shooting weddings for 10 years, and while the journey to get where I am today has been wild and crazy, it’s been all sorts of wonderful. I used my camera to pay my way through college at the greatest school in the land (Boiler Up!), and worked full time in the Non-Profit sector for a little while. I loved it (and still often help out my favorite non-profits), but something was missing. I realized that nothing made me feel as alive as I do when I’m behind a camera, telling stories of unposed, authentic, messy love.
So I jumped into full-time Wedding Photography, and I haven’t regretted it for a moment since.

From non-profits to non-stop travel
Growing up the son of a military man, I spent my childhood traveling the world before finally settling down for high school in Indiana. A Hoosier in a house divided, I earned my MA in Communications at Indiana University where I first picked up a camera and started taking pictures for my graduate school’s blog. For the next decade, I worked at Camp Tecumseh, telling the story of Camp through photography, videography, and design. At the same time, I honed my camera skills chasing after my daughter Lilia, and photographing weddings, events, families, and seniors.
I love helping couples use their wedding experience as an excuse to deepen their relationship and set themselves up for a successful marriage. I’m also a sucker for headshots, epic portraits, and wedding days that go against the grain.
I read non-stop about anything and everything. I’m currently working on my first novel. I have a stupidly large board game collection. And I cook a mean steak. Or so I’m told.
our love story
Co-Workers. Best friends. Husband & Wife.
01.
Mike Hires Kayla
summer 2015
In 2015 Mike worked at Camp Tecumseh YMCA as the marketing director. He hired a spunky applicant named Kayla Bacon as the summer camp videographer. His email to the summer camp director: "She's good. She needs a stabilizer. But she's good." Plot twist. She still hates stabilizers.
02.
"Can you shoot with me?"
2016
Kayla had her own business - Kayla Lynn Creative, and Mike had his own business - M Lang Photography. Whenever available, they'd shoot together and have entirely too much fun. Kayla quietly tolerated Mike's lack of style.
03.
best friends
2016-2018
Kayla returned to Camp every summer until 2018, and during her last semester of college, she did an internship with Mike. She spent lots of time with Mike's family, particularly his daughter Lilia.
04.
Ecuador
january 2018
They went out of the country together for the first time in January of 2018 when they travelled with their church to Ecuador. They took obnoxious amounts of pictures and had a ball providing the local Ecuadorian kids with a camp experience.
05.
a time of transition
2018
In the spring of 2018 Kayla quit her full-time job to focus on photography full time. And business boomed. While working his non-profit gig from 9-5, and running his photo business during the evenings and weekends, Mike was battling severe depression. He shut down his photo business to focus on treatment while Kayla's love and support kept him alive.
06.
romance
2019
Their friendship quickly blossomed into a beautiful romance. They travelled together, shot together, and ate way too much Chipotle together (some things never change). Kayla even managed to level up Mike's style game. While shooting a wedding in Jamaica, Mike asked Kayla to marry him.

marriage
february 2020
3 months after getting engaged, Kayla and Mike bought a house in West Lafayette and had their dream wedding along Big Sur just two weeks before the nationwide travel restrictions due to COVID-19.

2021
In February of 2021, Mike quit his full-time job to help Kayla provide loving couples with unique, unforgettable wedding experiences all around the world!
we want your story
to be a part of ours.
We love the life we have because couples like you entrusted us with their wedding. Every shoot, every location, every late night editing session, every broken camera, every dance party, every long drive, every flight, provided an opportunity for us to do what we love while creating the space for our love to grow. So thank you. Your love is a blessing to ours.
we can't wait to meet you!
