We’ve had Ashlyn & Jake’s wedding circled on our calendar for a long time for a whole lot of reasons. First off, because this was our first opportunity to shoot at Artisan Acres, and we’ve been dying to get there. It usually takes a season or two before our availability opens up enough that we can shoot at the hip new venues when they open and we’ve been eagerly awaiting our opportunity to get in on the dreamy, green, floral action. Fortunately, we’ll be back on the regular in the coming weeks and months! 

Second, we were STOKED to roll out our updated Love Confessional. What happens when you give a bunch of party people a microphone and a camera in what amounts to a color changing inflatable bouncy house? You got it. The Love Confessional. We’re so excited to put these stories together and share them with Ashlyn & Jake. 

Third, Ashlyn has had a VISION for this thing. Kayla and I were talking about it on the way to the wedding and trying to put our finger on why we were so excited to see this in action. On one hand, Ashlyn has an incredible eye for detail. She understands how things fit together. She knows what she likes and what she doesn’t like. Throughout this entire process she’s been an expert at figuring out how to add small touches of personal detail and sentimentality to her day in ways that are not only beautiful, but feel authentic to her and Jake. This meant there would be SO MUCH to photograph, SO MUCH to see and do, and SO MUCH to celebrate. At the same time, she’s realistic, easy to talk to, and just, well, happy to be here. Her energy is infectious and we were infected. 

Most importantly though, we just freaking love Ashlyn and Jake. They’re good people. We’ve been on Facetime with them on the regular leading up to the big day talking wedding, talking shop, talking Purdue, and we were pumped to just get a bunch of time with them surrounded by all their people. 

Spoiler alert: They had an absolutely stunning wedding. Then they turned it up to (and until) 11 and had a F*CKING PARTY!

Before we dive in: we were incredibly excited to be joined by the one and only Claire Thomas of XOXO photography who absolutely killed it as our extra set of hands. She kept both of our heads screwed on straight all day and was always one step ahead of the game. We love her and get freaking stoked anytime she gets to hang with us.
