how 'bout them apples.

We met Emily & Matthew for their engagement session just east of Phoenix in Tonto National Forest and holy smokes is their energy infectious. They don't stop laughing. They don't stop smiling. They're SO FREAKING FUN!

So excitement was high as we pulled into County Line Orchard in Hobart, Indiana for their absolute banger of a wedding.

Wedding days rarely go as you envision them. It’s inevitable. Things happen. However, for those who embrace spontaneity, magic is often the result. Emily & Matthew’s day featured so many of these magic moments we couldn’t include them all here (and even then this post is still HUUUUUUGE).

Emily said early on she preferred mostly documentary style ie: She wanted to just have fun with her people while we captured whatever that ended up happening. And boy did a lot happen.

With 18 members of their wedding party, the entire day featured tears, jokes, more tears, and more jokes. After Emily & Matthew’s emotional first look, we brought the full bridal party into the Orchard.  Apples were picked. Apples were thrown. Apples were…uh…fondled.

County Line Orchard set the ceremony up beneath a massive, hundred-year-old oak with gorgeous sprawling branches. Everyone got misty-eyed watching Matthew watch Emily come down the aisle. After vows, rings, and the official kiss, the bridal party danced their way back down the aisle, loaded up into the tractor, and headed back to the venue for the reception.

During the reception, they cut their oatmeal cream pie (!!!!) cake, drank champagne, and danced with each other and their parents before opening the dance floor.

As the sun set over the orchard, we brought them out for what was supposed to be a quick sunset portrait session that ended up going a little longer than we expected because they were having so much fun (we told them they could be done multiple times, and they kept saying "Do we have to? Can we just stay out here." So we took some absolutely drool-worthy pics, and then threw them the cameras and asked them to photograph each other. The results were equally awesome and hilarious.

When we got back in, the party was raging. The glow sticks were out, the drinks were flowing, and still nobody managed to have more fun than Emily & Matthew.

The delivery man showed up with a mountain of pizza just after 10 to keep the party going. We snagged them for a few late night pizza portraits and let them finish the night with their people

Emily, Matthew, we love you guys. You are so damn fun. We hope you love the photos as much as we do (which is a whole lot).
